To run or not to run: how many residents of Ile-de-France will go on holiday during the 2024 Paris Olympics?

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be watched by 51% of the French… on TV. According to the Ifop-Fiducial survey for Sud Radio*, only 4% of them will participate in the tests. And residents of Île-de-France, worried about overcrowded train and metro stations as well as overcrowded neighborhoods, will simply leave the region during the games, held from July 26 to August 11.

Half of the residents of Ile-de-France will go on holiday during the 2024 Paris Olympics

According to a survey by Ipsos Digital for Trainline**, one in two residents of Ile-de-France (47%) actually planned to go on holiday during this period to avoid the crowds and the expected increase in prices (traffic, beers, chips and the same condoms according to Parisian). A minority (13%) will use this exile to rent their accommodation.

A quarter of Île-de-France residents will expect more summer vacations this year

To implement this project, the inhabitants of Île-de-France rely on anticipation: 26% of the inhabitants of Île-de-France will do it this year to organize their summer vacation earlier than usual.

A measure that’s good: according to data from Trainline***, booking a train ticket 17 weeks in advance saves you an average of 40% compared to 14% four weeks in advance.

For example, among the most popular train routes, it is possible to save 43% on the Paris-Lyon route and 36% on the Paris-Marseille and Paris-Lille routes.

Working remotely, changing your habits: what will other residents of Ile-de-France be doing during the Olympics?

Although 19% of Île-de-France residents do not yet have a decided plan for the Olympics, 39% intend to change their lifestyle this summer. 37% have already planned to work remotely during this period… for those who may be considering it.
