Renfe relies on luxury tourist trains

From tomorrow, March 26, the Transcantábrico Gran Lujo will run again.

Running since July 1983, this train was renovated about twenty years ago to provide greater safety and comfort. In forty years, it has established itself as one of the most famous tourist trains in the world in the field of luxury rail tourism.

Transcantábrico Gran Lujo offers 8-day stays (7 nights) between San Sebastian and Santiago de Compostela but also shorter routes (4 days including 3 nights) from Oviedo to San Sebastián or optionally between Santiago de Compostela and Gijón.

All stays include accommodation on board the train in one of the 14 luxury suites, as well as a gastronomic offer that includes breakfast, lunch and dinner on the ship or in selected restaurants. Travelers can also take advantage of guided tours, tickets to attractions and shows, onboard activities, multilingual tour guide services throughout the tour, and shuttle service.

The Al Ándalus train will again run 7-day (6-day) journeys on its Andalusia route from March 31. They run in both directions between Seville and Málaga and pass through the cities of Cádiz, Granada, Jaén and Córdoba.

Al Andalus is counted 15 cars, including five built in France in the late 1920s.

The five cars belong to the same line as those used by the British royal family for holiday trips between Calais and the Cote d’Azur. These cars are now designated for common areas.

Seven other cars are reserved for the private use of passengers. They have 32 rooms: 12 “Gran Clase” rooms and 20 “Deluxe Suites”.

The Al Ándalus train also has a kitchen car in which meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are prepared for the passengers to enjoy on board the train.

The Costa Verde Express will restart on May 1. From 2022, this train is offered by Renfe to discover “green spain“, from which it takes its name stay of 6 days and 5 nights, in both directions, between Bilbao and Santiago de Compostela.

The Expreso de la Robla will run for the first time in 2024. This train will follow the old coal route between León and Bilbao. His travels last 3 days (2 nights).

They include accommodation in one of seven en-suite cabins, breakfast on board and guided tours.
